For the design competition of relocating Korean National Pension Service (KNPS) Headquarters standing for the national welfare, H rendered the strategy to embody the symbolic building of ‘Giving Tree’ from which people benefit the varied systems of sustainable technologies embedded in innovative design.

Creating design feature of envelope, incarnation of tree shape, H achieved sustainably functioning building inside and outside closely such as horizontal louvers on south facade to block direct sunlight, vertical fins on north facade to bring in natural diffuse sunlight, and vertical atrium to ventilate air inside the building.

Integrating design feature with sustainable strategy, H achieves the iconic building expressing the metaphor of tree on a hill casting shadow where people can rest as a shelter in response to the motto, providing national welfare to people who rely on for their old age, Korean National Pension System raise up........more

The overall approach is driven by the site-specific requirements of Sarapiqui: demanding minimum interference with the surroundings, yet establishing a clear visual interaction with the jungle. Given the context; a protected national park, the main design challenge is how to create a building that can integrate into the atmospheric layers of the Jungle while simultaneously leaving a minimal footprint in terms off tear & wear on the forest. A lightweight and light permeable façade principle came up ad the solution. Sustainable Office Building | Spiretec | Greater Noida | India | Eric Owen Moss

A single, unifying planning and design strategy, using the environmental properties of the region, integrates the site planning and design of the new building with the site plan for the six surrounding office structures.
The center of the site is minimally excavated to create a primary water feature as a consequence of the existing elevated floodplain. A park filled with indigenous landscaping surrounds the natural water feature, with a terraced, landscaped public walk.
The new building form is a direct consequence both of sun orientation, and of the two given plan and height obligations. The new building volume descends in height from west to east, as proscribed by the project zoning envelope, and as it descends, the volume shifts from south to north as the given site plan requires. Building surfaces maximize sun orientation for photovoltaic applications, and adjustable louvers provide shading. Courtyards at either end of the building are shaped by the movement of the sun to provide natural day lighting.
The ground floor lobbies of all proposed structures are connected with an enclosed walkway, unifying the pedestrian movement across the site.........more

The new business residential building is located at an important location in the old city centre in Celje. The land intended for construction is a part of a larger degraded non-built up area, which was somewhat forgotten for decades and exempt from the development of the city. Through the years a very heterogeneous structure evolved around this "wound" in the urban tissue, which was untouched for a long time. Two vertical plates are inclined slightly cut into the hilly landscape. The space between the disks flows toward the valley is getting narrower and has a direction - spot the excessive height of the discs - as a landmark and a new landmark. The entire area will be reduced to two main levels and adapts to the natural terrain. Along the road opens to the forecourt to the entrance and the meeting room. The location of the tower and thus the highest point is chosen so that the reference is added to the site. The spatial concept utilizes the natural terrain. The two main levels are connected inside by developing seeds. At the level of -4.00, the RK garages with adjacent rooms, located directly above the ground floor office space and all the rooms in the attic, and later as an extension of the apartments. Spectacular concept for a high-rise tower designed as an enormous glass hyperboloid with a transparent covered atrium at its heart, extending upward the entire height of the building. The number of storeys and the floor surface area can be adjusted to the requirements of the client. The tower can be used for apartments, shops or offices, but also offers many possibilities for multifunctional use. The form, materialization and engineering make the building a stylish and distinctive icon in the skyline of every metropolitan environment. The appearance and structure provide many advantages. The construction principle guarantees an elegant and stable building with column-free floors. Although the twisted supporting and façade construction may look complicated, it is easily implemented due to the many repetitions in entirely straight elements that are serially produced. Because the atrium is covered with a transparent roofing, the upper storeys in particular receive light from both outside and inside. The atrium also allows natural ventilation so that fewer installations are required. The physical manifestation of this new multi-storey building for Benetton has been derived from the design envelope that was given for the site. In order to create a recognisable building with a clear sense of identity, the superposition of the floors, as instructed by the competition brief, has been manipulated in such a way that a three-dimensional artwork emerges that is perceived differently from every different point of view in its urban context. The curvy grid pattern on the facade is not simply a representation of the Benetton logo, but is actively incorporated in the structural engineering. Linked to the vertical cores of the building, it supports the ceilings. Thus all the floors of the building are completely flexible spaces. The program is organised in terms of platforms that are connected by several escalators and centrally located elevators. The different platforms are penetrated by two large voids that bring sufficient light into the office and apartment area....more

Westlake Reed Leskosky's concept design for a speculative office building in downtown Cleveland projects a highly memorable image. Located at a key transition point between Public Square and the Warehouse District, the canted form has dynamic visibility as a terminus to Euclid and Superior Avenues. Designed for LEED Gold certification, the structure reduces heat gain by self-shading the south façade. Horizontal blades on heat-activated sensors shield the east and west façades, which are most susceptible to heat gain and energy consumption. The roof of the podium is envisioned as a habitable living roof, which responds to environmental concerns, provides a programmable space for respite, and assures desirable views for all staff. Preston Eye is the result of a competition with a remarkable brief. The client is spending a generous amount of money in order to acquire the best office building in Northern England, and the best working conditions for its employees.
Although the brief suggests a 4 story building with a logistics core at its centre, we designed an office layout with two levels and an open air garden court. All employees enjoy natural daylight, fresh air and views to the outside. The curved, double skin glass façade is esthetically stunning for its simplicity, its play of transparency and reflections. The Preston Eye combines the advantages of an intimate small scale office (concentrating, thinking, reflecting), with the qualities of a larger open plan office (social interaction, improved communication, sharing of information). Shortlisted.
