The client for BPQR House lives in the house next to this property, and his home-based movie soundtrack editing and recording studio business is crowding the living spaces of the house. As such his and his family’s living and working tightly intertwined. On this neighboring lot there now exists one of those 1940s fairytale genre Hollywood houses at the bottom of the large upslope – currently containing some of the overflowing recording studio program. The design brief is to replace this small and dated structure with a new house with guest quarters and underground recording studio, in a contemporary mode that reflects the owner’s love of curves and the designs of John Lautner, Vernor Panton and African art.......
